Smashed Pavlova with pomegranates and crushed roasted nuts, (or with sliced mango and passionfruit), either version is a quick and easy delight for the whole family!<em>\u00a0Serves 4-6<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2283\" src=\"http:\/\/journal.bohemiantraders.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/pav-JPG.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"542\" srcset=\"https:\/\/journal.bohemiantraders.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/pav-JPG.jpg 4134w, https:\/\/journal.bohemiantraders.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/pav-JPG-300x203.jpg 300w, https:\/\/journal.bohemiantraders.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/pav-JPG-768x520.jpg 768w, https:\/\/journal.bohemiantraders.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/pav-JPG-1024x693.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Meringue<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span class=\"s1\">2 egg whites<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span class=\"s1\">1\/2 cup castor sugar<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span class=\"s1\">1 tsp cornflour<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span class=\"s1\">1\/2 tsp white vinegar<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Topping<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Whipped cream to serve<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span class=\"s1\">2 tbsp chopped roasted hazelnuts<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span class=\"s1\">Seeds from half a pomegranate<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">or,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span class=\"s1\">3<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>mangoes sliced<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span class=\"s1\">3 passionfruit<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Directions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span class=\"s1\">Preheat oven to 150 degrees.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Use an electric mixer to whisk the egg white to form soft peaks.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Gradually sprinkle the sugar over the egg whites as you continue to beat. The whites should become stiff and glossy. Beat for another minute or two after the sugar has all been combined.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Sift the cornflour over the top and add the vinegar, fold through carefully.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Line a baking tray with baking paper and dollop the mixture into 4-5 separate balls.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The shape doesn\u2019t really matter as they\u2019ll be smashed in the end anyway. <\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Reduce the heat of the oven to 120 degrees and cook the meringues for 35 minutes.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Turn the oven off but do not open the door.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Leave the meringues to cool in the oven for at least 30-40 minutes.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>You can make the meringues in advance of when you plan on using them. Just make sure they are stored in an airtight container. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"s1\">When cooled and ready to serve, break up the meringues and serve with the pomegranate seeds and crushed hazelnuts and whipped cream.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Alternate Topping &#8211;\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">Mango and Passionfruit<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Instead of garnishing with the hazelnuts and pomegranate seeds, try this sweeter alternative.\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">Slice three mangoes into small slithers and place over the cooled smashed meringue.
