Recipe // Homemade Granola
Breakfast is one of the most overlooked opportunities to really spoil yourself with a gourmet experience. We all know what its like to be so busy focusing on the kids or rushing out the door that breakfast ebcomes a total non-event! So lets see how a little preparation can go a long way when it comes to starting the day with a good step.
Making homemade granola is so easy. You can keep the sugar out and add all of your favourite ingredients. Add extras to our list below or swap out for something you prefer more. Ps. If you’ve been embracing the cozy comfort of porridge in these cooler months, try this granola as a garnish sprinkled on top – the flavoursome crunch can bring the perfect texture to your breakfast in any season! Makes 3 cups
Ingrediants
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup coconut flakes
1 cup flaked almonds
1/4 cup dried cherries or cranberries
1/4 pecans, chopped
2 tbsp sunflower seeds
2 tbsp poppy seeds
1 tbsp sunflower oil
25g butter, melted
2 tbsp maple syrup
Directions
- Preheat oven to 160.
- Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Stir well to coat with the syrup, butter and oil.
- Line a baking tray with baking paper and spread the mixture out onto the tray.
- Bake for 15 minutes, carefully stirring around halfway.
- Allow to cool before storing in a jar or airtight container.
- Serve with a generous splash of cold milk and organic yogurt.
- To give that fresh & healthy boost: chop some fresh strawberry and banana to place on top, and garnish with a leaf of mint!
